The world is placed on a golden triangle, on blended shades of pale turquoise tulle, with children in colourful traditional costume (using in a variety of textiles) linking hands celebrating a new millenium.
This textile collage is inspired by the Kyoto wood carving of the Maitreya Buddha, also known as the “Buddha of the Golden Light” and the “Coming One”, expected as the world teacher for the new era.
In June the foxgloves bloom on Bowen Island, set in the sheltered waters of the Coastal Range in the Pacific Northwest. They cover some areas, their enchanting faces clustered on stems six to eight feet tall.
